Terms of Service
Welcome to Circl. These Terms explain the rules for using Circl, an early-access social network. By creating an account or using Circl, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Circl.
1. Early access
Circl is currently open to a limited number of members. Features may change, break or be removed, and we may limit or pause access while we build and test the service.
2. Who can use Circl
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
- You must give accurate information and verify your email address.
- You can't use Circl if you've been removed from it for breaking these Terms.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login secure. Tell us right away at the support email below if you think someone else has accessed it. One person, one account.
4. Your content
You own what you post. By posting on Circl, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, display and deliver your content as part of running the service, for example to show your posts to other members and deliver your messages. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that are removed in the ordinary course.
You are responsible for your content. Only post things you have the right to share.
5. Community rules
Be kind and use Circl lawfully. You may not:
- Post anything illegal, or anything that sexualizes or endangers minors. We have zero tolerance for this and will report it to the authorities.
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or encourage violence against anyone, or post hateful content aimed at people for who they are.
- Post sexually explicit content, graphic violence, or content that encourages self-harm.
- Share other people's private information without permission, or impersonate someone.
- Spam, run scams, spread malware, or try to disrupt, scrape, or bypass the limits of the service.
- Post content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
6. Messages
Direct messages are meant to be private between the people in the conversation. We don't routinely read them. We may review messages that are reported to us, or when needed to enforce these Terms, keep people safe, or follow the law. You can decline message requests and block people at any time.
7. Reporting and moderation
You can report posts that break these rules. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or end accounts at our discretion, with or without notice, especially to protect other members. To report a problem, use the Report button or email us.
8. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Circl infringes your copyright, email us at the support address below with a description of the work, where it appears on Circl, and your contact details, and we will review it.
9. Ending your account
You can stop using Circl at any time. To have your account and content deleted, email us at the support address below. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we need to shut down or change the service.
10. No guarantees
Circl is provided "as is" and "as available" while in early access. We work hard to keep it running and your content safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or free of data loss. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
11. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Circl and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for content posted by members. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Circl grows. If we make an important change, we'll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Circl after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
